Fear and aggression: "coup d'état" in America

Donald Trump’s strategies are neither original nor genius. In any case, they seem to have been copied from a 'how to be a dictator for idiots' manual, presumably provided by Vladimir Putin, the former KGB agent, who is now president of Russia.

It is evident that Trump's strategy is aimed at engendering widespread chaos in the country in order to justify the militarization of the nation, impede the mid-term Congressional elections, or even annul them, a course of action which essentially constitute a 'self-coup'.

The term "self-coup'" is employed to denote a "coup d'état"  by the own president of a country or political forces who have gained power through legal and legitimate means, yet maintain that power through illegal and unethical actions, often with the support of other individuals or political groups.*

This phenomenon has been historically observed throughout history in Latin America, spearheaded by national-populist movements that do not align with the conventional "left or right" categorizations of the political spectrum.  It has been demonstrated that such definitions are either superficial or exceedingly inaccurate.

The regimes and leaders who have seized power through coups commonly use nationalist narratives and demagogic discourses for social reforms that rarely materialize.

The parallels extend further. A common characteristic of these systems is the presence of strong power and strict control of government by a civil, military, or hybrid authoritarian leadership.

The recent events tends to indicate that a coup is underway by Trump and the right-wing extremists of 'MAGA' and 'P2025', by provoking critical political confrontations, by issuing aggressive statements, and the use of a demagogic narrative intended to intimidate American citizens.

It is evident that the military's deployment in the liberal states of the nation is intended to destabilize the government and intimidate those within the Republican Party who might hold divergent views from the president.

The phenomenon unfolding in America is part of a broader global trend involving international oligarchies and kleptocrats. The primary objective of the aforementioned entities is the accumulation of wealth, even if this pursuit entails the destruction of other countries, their populations, and their cultural heritage.

The leaders of authoritarian regimes of the last twenty-five years of this millennium are responsible in the more part for the worsening of the life conditions of people around the world. Their government’s policies and actions not only exacerbate the world’s political and socio-economic problems, but even had make more difficult to deal with the climate disruption.

However, have not help to stop it either the lack of consistent postures by the democratic governments, the absence of serious and viable alternatives to the concrete problems of the people by the progressive political sectors, and the incapacity to reach alliances among the progressives and moderate forces.

The present conjuncture call us to stay strong, alert, fully aware of the history of fascist violent provocations, and of what is happening now in the US and around the world. Each one of us must contribute to stop the destruction of the planet and its inhabitants. This is the most important  legacy we can left for our children and the future generations.

We are all  facing a complex reality that is characterized by the pervasive violence perpetrated by corrupt authoritarian regimes. The challenge confronting us could not be greater. However, if we are committed to preserving this "wonderful world" and maintaining the human civilization, grounded in love, solidarity, and peace, it is imperative that action be taken, that voices be raised, that participation occur, and that presence be made. This is it. Nothing less than that.
